about
“Unbroken started out as a piano piece written by Tanya (drummer). She was jamming on it one afternoon and it just had this beautiful dark but uplifting sound that really drew me in. I immediately began writing lyrics and it became a really healing piece of music for me. It’s about relationships, be they romantic or not, and the journey of forgiving yourself and the other person when things don’t work out” - Stacey Abdilla
lyrics
I remember the day you set me free
It wasn't long before we were history
I was swimming almost drowning I saved myself
Couldn't catch you, you were falling I blamed myself
Do you remember the way you'd hurt me then
I couldn't take it anymore you were a terrible friend
A lover's s'posed to be the one who can make you whole
You were caught up in the tide you just let me go
I tried yesterday
To fix you
But you weren't broken
We were
Just two pieces that won't fit together
I lied when I said I'd stay and
That I miss you
But we weren't broken
You were
Just a star that couldn't light my way home
"Never mind" you said "we are history"
I was floating waves were crashing
And down I fell
Took a chance guess I was wrong
You were someone else
I tried yesterday
To fix you
But you weren't broken
We were
Just two pieces that won't fit together
I lied when I said I'd stay and
That I miss you
But we weren't broken
You were
Just a star that couldn't light my way home
The ocean it takes me
To places where you won't let me
I cried yesterday
When I realised you were
Just a star that couldn't light my way home
I tried yesterday
But we weren't broken
You were just a star that couldn't light my way home
The ocean it takes me
To place were you won't let me
